SOCIETY

"I feel like something's gonna happen. And, if I scratch the surface, they'll be something terrible underneath." - Bill Whitney

SOCIETY is a completely original, tongue in cheek, thought-provoking 80's gem...and its absolutely batshit crazy.

So when Mad Duck reached out to me to do a poster for it, I said yes without hesitation...

Upon more research into the film I learned that director Brian Yuzna (Bride of Re-Animator, Honey I Shrunk The Kids) was heavily inspired by the famed works of Salviador Dali.
As soon as I learned this, Dali's "In Voluptas Mors" came to mind and fully inspired this 80's redux/homage to his incredibly legendary and iconic work.

I really wanted to capture the era of the 1980's and especially the look of 1980's poster art itself but I also wanted to create something elegant, statuesque and upon closer look...grotesque.
The film is very sharp and clean and encompasses Beverly Hills high-class in the late 80's but the films third act flips everything on its head and becomes a downward spiral into some of the most unnerving and shocking visuals ever put on film, especially for the era.

For those who have seen the film can probably understand what the relevance of this piece is to the film and what it suggests; both on the surface and beneath the surface. For those who have not seen the film...should do so. Its a trip.
