"Now they know what it feels like... to be the butt-end of the joke. Your palms sweating, your face burning up. Now they know what it's like... to be the fucking punch line." - Rusty Nail

What I consider to be one of the most underrated thriller/horror films of the early 2000's, Joy Ride was a blast in a glass. An 80's throwback in late 90s packaging. I was approached by Skuzzles to create new DVD/BluRay artwork for the fast-paced-high-chase horror flick and to say I was stoked was an understatement.

I had a VHS copy of this film, worn right out. Yes, VHS. Looked like a cassette tape, but bigger? A casette tape. Ya know? Ah nevermind. Anyways, Skuzzles and 20th Century Fox & MGM have paired up to get some incredible artists to reimagine alternative artwork for some of their films for new re-releases and I was lucky enough to be asked to do so as well!

The process went through many phases and concepts but ultimately the studio preferred a more straight forward concept and wanted the new art to depict the two vehicles mid-chase. It was a nice departure from my usual concepts and it tested me on some levels in how to create this tension in a still image. I think it turned out great - and now I get to watch the film on BluRay for the first time all over again - with my art on the cover. Now how cool is that?!

Ps, Steve Zahn though, right?
