"My name is Lester Burnham. This is my neighborhood; this is my street; this is my life. I am 42 years old; in less than a year I will be dead. Of course I don't know that yet, and in a way, I am dead already." - Lester Burnham
What can be said about this film that has not already been said?
I'm not sure but I had to say something with the poster. I more or less tried to capture the feeling of the dark, empty and seemlingly meaninglessness of Lester's average suburban life; as portrayed earlier in the film.
I had multiple variations of this poster. One featured almost a miniature street around the Lester/head bursting composition. With the characters in the film scattered throughout. It seemed a bit goofy. Something better suited for well...something else maybe. Less was more and this comp was bold enough for the whole piece.
In the end I more or less tried to show his world as thought-provoking yet as minimalist as I could.
I wanted a sharp, sleek poster that gave you a small glimpse into Lesters character and the doom and gloom of suburban life. Something hopeless and hopeful in his expression. A feeling of death lingering.
